Ingredients

  • 1 lb. thinly sliced round steak, sirloin, or venison
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper (half red, half green), sliced
  • 5 tablespoons soy sauce (divided)
  • 4 tablespoons sugar (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch (divided)
  • Seasonings: garlic powder, ground ginger, salt, and pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice the steak and vegetables thinly; set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, 1 tablespoon sugar, garlic powder, ginger, salt, and pepper. Marinate the steak for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Mix the glaze ingredients: 3 tablespoons soy sauce, remaining sugar and cornstarch until smooth.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; cook onions and bell peppers until slightly browned. Remove from skillet.
  5. In the same skillet, cook marinated steak until browned.
  6. Return vegetables to the skillet; add glaze and stir until thickened.
  7. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
