- 1 (15 oz) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 ½ teaspoons garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder (optional, for spicier chili)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Sauté the chopped onion for about 2 minutes until softened.

- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. Add chili powder, cumin, brown sugar, oregano, salt, pepper, and tomato paste; mix well.
- Pour in beef broth and scrape the bottom of the pot to loosen browned bits. Stir in fire-roasted crushed tomatoes and both types of beans.
