  • 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 ripe bananas (mashed)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar (sifted)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ cup caramel topping
  • whole milk as needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add vanilla extract and eggs one at a time.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually combine with wet ingredients, then fold in mashed bananas.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. While cooling, prepare the frosting by beating room temperature butter until creamy, then gradually add sifted sugar and salt, mixing in caramel topping and milk as needed.
  6. Once cooled completely, frost the bars evenly with the salted caramel buttercream.
