  • 6 cups sugar (divided)
  • 1 1/2 cups walnuts or pecans (chopped)

  6. Remove from heat; stir in baking soda, butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  7. Let it rest for about 20 minutes before incorporating chopped nuts.
  8. Pour into the prepared dish and cool for 1-2 hours before slicing into squares.
