- 1/4 tsp fine salt
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp fine salt
- 1/4 cup vegetable or canola oil
- 2 Tbsp water
- Flakey sea salt – garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- For the shortbread crust: Cream together butter and powdered sugar, then mix in flour and salt. Press into the pan and bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Prepare the caramel layer by melting butter and brown sugar in a saucepan; stir in condensed milk, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt until thickened. Pour over baked crust.
- Make brownie batter by mixing granulated sugar, melted butter, oil, and eggs. Gradually add dry ingredients and fold in chocolate chips.
- Spread batter over caramel layer and bake for an additional 25–30 minutes.
- For ganache, heat cream until simmering, remove from heat, add chocolate chips and stir until smooth; pour over cooled brownies.
- Chill before cutting into squares.
