Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz bowtie pasta (farfalle)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the bowtie pasta according to package instructions in salted water until al dente. Reserve ½ cup of the cooking water, then drain.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, cooking until browned (5-7 minutes). Stir in onion and garlic for another 3 minutes. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Whisk in flour to create a roux, then gradually add milk while whisking until smooth.
  4. Reduce heat to low; stir in mozzarella and Parmesan until melted. Combine cooked pasta and beef mixture with the sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed.
  5. Serve warm, garnished with parsley and extra cheese if desired.
