Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon cracked red pepper flakes
  • 2 (3 ounce) packages ramen noodles (seasoning packets discarded)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil (divided)
  • 1 pound sirloin steak (sliced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Sesame seeds (garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce and cornstarch until smooth. Add beef broth, honey, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, and cracked red pepper. Mix well until fully combined. Set aside.
  2. Bring a medium pot of water to boil. Cook ramen noodles for 2–3 minutes until just tender. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking. Drizzle with 1 teaspoon of sesame oil to keep them from sticking together.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Season the sliced sirloin steak with kosher salt and black pepper. Add it to the hot skillet without moving it for about 3 minutes to achieve browning on one side. Stir occasionally for another 2 minutes until cooked through. Remove steak from skillet and drain any excess grease.
  4. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil along with fresh broccoli florets. Pour in 1/2 cup of water, cover, and steam the broccoli for about 2 minutes until bright green but still crisp.
  5. Return the cooked steak back into the skillet along with the prepared ramen noodles.
  6. Stir your prepared sauce again before pouring it into the skillet. Using tongs, toss all ingredients together as they heat through in the sauce for an additional 1–2 minutes until everything is evenly coated.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds for an extra touch of flavor!
